Seasonal update - January 8, 2024

2023 was a year full of fire and drought. We had to evacuate our cattle off the range to our west-most property and had plans to evacuate completely but thankfully the wind shifted and it didn't come to that. But, like many others, we our third year of drought and the wildlife numbers continue to grow, both ungulate and predator. We lost several calves to wolves and have played host to 200-600 elk all year (except during hunting season when they know how to make themselves scarce).

Hugh is on the mend after his second hip replacement surgery so we're hoping he's back to full working order this summer.

2024 started with little snow on the ground, we've had a couple of inches in the last few days so we hope that's a sign of things to come or it's going to be a very dry spring. Even the mountains don't have the usual amount of snow.

We are selling our bulls by private treaty off the ranch this year. Please contact Hugh for details. We will be loading pictures to the website soon. Please check back.
